Subject Description

An investigation of the phonological, grammatical and semantic features of Australian Aboriginal languages through the study of a particular language against the background of research on Australian languages generally. Languages studied in previous years have included Kayardild (Qld), Mayali (N.T.), Yawurru and Nyulnyul (both W.A.).

Assessment

At Third year: Three assignments to a total of 1,500 words and a 2,500 word research paper. At Fourth year: Three assignments to a total of 2,500 words and a 2,500 word paper.
