Subject Description | This is an advanced course on the principles and techniques of syntactic analysis and argumentation. The emphasis is on the formalization of syntactic concepts and on the different approaches from various theoretical perspectives. The theoretical frameworks to be investigated include LFG HPSG and the Minimalist Program. The topics covered will vary from year to year, and they will be drawn from current issues in syntactic theory. |
Assessment | Two assignment problems of 500 words each, and a class presentation equivalent to 2000 words, and a final 1000-word essay for 3rd-year. Two assignment problems of 500 words each, and a class presentation equivalent to 2000 words, and a final 2000-word essay for 4th-year. |
