Subject Description

Recent debates and reforms in Australian and Victorian public policy and public sector management will be analysed. Topics include welfare policy, health policy, unemployment and gender issues. Major changes in the public sector, including privatisation and contracting out of services, will be assessed. Students will be encouraged to design and evaluate policy proposals.

Assessment

An essay or project of 2000 words involving issues of policy design and implementation, and a 2-hour examination equivalent to 2000 words.
