Subject Description | This subject examines some topic or topics of interest in current philosophical debate, in the general area of metaphysics or epistemology, through the medium of selected recent monographs and journal articles. Topics might include, for example, the problem of universals and the ontology of mathematics, or theories of truth and the foundations of a theory of linguistic meaning. Students of the subject should attain detailed knowledge of the ideas operative in the topics selected for study, and of the background and context necessary for their evaluation. |
