Subject Description | The subject critically examines a number of theorisations about women by French women thinkers. Theories explored include materialist, psychoanalytic and radical lesbian approaches, as well as critiques of the institution of philosophy itself. Students doing this subject will gain an understanding of the philosophical issues arising from the various theoretical perspectives on women's social situation and their psychosexual identity, and the connections between the two. |
Assessment | A 2-hour examination, and an essay of 2000 words, and regular attendance and participation in tutorials. |
