Subject Description | A survey of the Philosophy of Language in the twentieth century and its antecedents, aiming at a description of the main trends, their ambitions, and the difficulties associated with them. Students of the subject should attain a broad knowledge of these trends, and be in a position to study them in further detail either within Philosophy, or in related fields such as Anthropology or Linguistics. |
Assessment | Three essays, two of 1000 words and one of 2000 words, plus regular attendance and participation in tutorials. |
