Subject Description

The anthropological study of religion with an emphasis on the comparative study of myth and/or ceremonial systems. Students who complete this subject should have acquired a grounding in the anthropological and comparative study of myth and/or ritual; have acquired a knowledge of the principal theories and methods employed by anthropologists in the analysis of myth and ritual systems; have a knowledge of the range of the world's cosmologies and the variety of forms of religious representation in the world's societies.

Assessment

Two essays of 2000 words each.
