Subject Description

A study of the importance of the Court in Medieval Europe in the Middle Ages, both as a socio-political institution and as a cultural construct, based on contemporary writings, both administrative and creative. Sub-topics include: Court and rulers; courts and the Church; the Courtly Ideal: propaganda and subversion; Women and the Court; regional variation.

Assessment

Written work totalling 5000 words.
