Subject Description

A special study based on intensive reading selected from teaching interests within the department covering a subject not already taken or extending knowledge within a subject already studied. This subject will facilitate the student's powers of independent inquiry; will inculcate initiative in self-directed research; will increase understanding of an area of history not previously studied or to advance understanding of an area of already established knowledge.

Assessment

An essay of 5000 words.
