A 1.5-hour lecture and a 1-hour tutorial per week

Subject Description

A study of Jewish society in the twentieth century, focusing on the period between the first and the Second World War. The subject will study events leading to the Holocaust, and the reconstitution of Jewish life in the post-war period in the State of Israel, Europe and the English speaking world. Major figures in contemporary Jewish culture, film, literature and humour will be studied.

Assessment

Written work totalling 4000 words.
