Subject Description

This subject examines the oral tradition in Australia, with reference to the particular attributes of oral texts and to changes in its cultural significance. On completion of this subject students should be able to recognise the diversity of the oral tradition: its different forms, purposes and audiences; appreciate critically a range of oral texts, reflect on the role of memory in constructing oral narrative, and demonstrate verbal and written skills.

Assessment

Written work totalling 4000 words.
