Subject Description

A contrastive linguistic study of Russian and Polish. Theory and practice, the latter mainly in reading. Serves as an introduction to practical Polish. Students by the end of the subject should: have a basic understanding of Polish, especially in contrast to Russian; be able to read any Polish texts with the help of a dictionary; be able to pronounce Polish reasonably well; be in a position to continue independently learning to use Polish at all levels.

Assessment

Written work totalling 5000 words.
