A 2-hour lecture and a.5-hour tutorial per week

Subject Description

Theory and principles or oral interpreting (consecutive and simultaneous); videos of professional practice will be used; structured practice by simulated interpreting sessions (all with special reference to Russian). By the end of the subject, students should be able to: carry out informal interpreting; background speakers: also more formal interpreting; background speakers at least should be able to sit assessment tests with NAATI, and acquire a formal qualification.

Assessment

Two 30-minute simulated interpreting sessions, and a classpaper of 1000 words. An additional essay of 1000 words for 4th-year.
