Subject Description

An introduction to spoken and written German for students with little or no knowledge of German. During the subject students will be introduced to the basic spoken language and some of the grammatical structures of the German language and the capacity to apply these principles in speech and writing. They will command the ability to read and evaluate a small range of German texts and achieve the level of language competency required for admittance into Beginners German C and D.

Assessment

A 3-hour examination, short weekly assignments and fortnightly vocabulary tests totalling 1000 words. Only students who have attended at least 80% of the classes will be admitted to the examination.
