Subject Description | This subject consists of a two week field trip to China in the Winter Recess (July) with follow-up classes in Melbourne in Semester Two. The subject is designed to develop students' interests in Asia (China in particular) and in the impacts of economic and social development on the environment. While in China students will interact with local academics and environmental managers who will inform them about issues and processes in China. This will be supplemented by site visits. The field trip will be under the supervision of the subject coordinators. Students undertaking this subject will be required to pay for fares and accommodation and food in China. |
Assessment | A project proposal of 1500 words, and a research paper of 6500 words, and a seminar presentation for 3rd-year. A project proposal of 2000 words, and a research paper of 8000 words, and a seminar presentation for 4th-year. |
Prescribed Texts | Reading for this subject will depend on the topics which students develop while in China. |
