A 2-hour seminar and a 1-hour tutorial per week

Subject Description

A critical analysis of the role of women in their relation to the production of creative and theoretical texts in French society. Examples include women as writers, social critics, and as objects of representation.

Assessment

A classpaper of 1500 words subsequently written up, and class participation, and an essay of 1500 words, and a final 1-hour test.

Prescribed Texts

Selection of texts compiled by the Department including works by: George Sand, Colette, Marguerite Duras, Violette Leduc, and other contemporary writers.
