Subject Description | Various exercises and activities designed to consolidate year 12 linguistic skills, enhancing both fluency and accuracy. Speaking: class discussions on topics of social, cultural and political significance, role plays and short presentations. Aural comprehension: understanding authentic audio-visual materials including films, development of listening accuracy. Writing: grammar revision and development, composition, translation. Reading skills are enhanced primarily in a textual studies seminar introducing students to the work of some major 20th century French writers: de Beauvoir, Camus, Chraïbi, Prévert, Sarraute. By studying a range of genres (poetry, drama, short stories, extracts of novels), students develop their reading comprehension, and begin to develop skills in critical analysis. |
Assessment | Written and oral work equivalent to 1500 words, and a 7-minute oral test, and a 60-minute written language test, and a 60-minute textual studies test. |
