Subject Description

The basic grammar and syntax of Akkadian; reading of simple texts illustrative of various aspects of Babylonian culture. Students on completion of the subject should have acquired the basics of Akkadian grammar; have an initial understanding of the problems of Akkadian epigraphy (the cuneiform script).

Assessment

Written work which may comprise classpapers, essays or take-home exams totalling 2000 words, and a 2-hour examination.
