Subject Description

This subject is to develop four macro-skills using multimedia tools through two 2-hour sessions in the computer lab. In one session students are engaged in listening and reading activities through the up-dated software 'Video Watcher' which contains digitalized Japanese TV news/video strips. In the other session students choose a topic to write about in Japanese and create a Web page in Japanese in collaboration with Japanese university students. At the end of semester students give oral presentations in Japanese on their projects. All classes are conducted entirely in Japanese.

Assessment

Written work totalling 3000 words, and a 15-minute aural comprehension examination, and a 5-minute oral presentation of a project for 3rd-year. Written work totalling 4000 words, and a 15-minute aural comprehension examination, and a 5-minute oral presentation of a project for 4th-year. Students are required to attend a minimum of 70% of all classes in order to be eligible to take the examination.
