Japanese 1A-Core and Japanese 1A-IT or satisfactory completion of a placement test. Students must be concurrently enrolled in Japanese 1B-IT.

Subject Description

A post-introductory course in Japanese. Students learn further basic expressions which enable them to function in daily life in Japan. Students also expand their knowledge of kanji (Chinese characters) to around 200 characters. Students are further introduced to aspects of Japanese culture.

Assessment

Assignments and quizzes totalling 1500 words, a 10-minute oral examination, and a 2-hour examination. Students are required to attend a minimum of 70% of all classes in order to be eligible to take examinations.
