Subject Description

An introductory course in Japanese. Students learn basic expressions which enable them to function in their immediate circumstances. Students are introduced to two kana syllabaries and around 80 basic kanji (Chinese characters). Students are also introduced to aspects of Japanese culture.

Assessment

Assignments and quizzes totalling 1500 words, and a 10-minute oral examinations, and a 2-hour examination. Students are required to attend a minimum of 70% of all classes in order to be eligible to take examinations.
