Subject Description

A study of Malay, its linguistic development and the processes of its standardisation into Indonesian and Malay(sian). Selected texts will be used to illustrate the socio-historical, ethnic and regional variation of Malay.

Assessment

Written work totalling 5000 words.

Prescribed Texts

Selected texts in various forms of Malay will be supplied by the Institute.
