Prerequisites | Some readings from the Indonesian media in Indonesian will be used as sources of information. Knowledge of Indonesian (at the 2B level) will be advantageous. |

Subject Description | This subject will enable students to understand critically the functioning of contemporary Indonesian society. In the first half of the course there are lectures and seminars on contemporary Indonesian politics, economics and culture. In the second half of the course important current events in Indonesia will be discussed. Some readings from the Indonesian media (in Indonesian) will be used as sources of information. |
Assessment | Written work totalling 3000 words, and a 2-hour examination. |
