Subject Description

A reading course on Chinese legal documents. Students will be given a guided introduction to a variety of legal documents, including the Chinese constitution, decrees, communiques, tax legislation, and contracts. Special attention will be paid to current developments to PRC legislation on intellectual property and the electronic media. The style of Chinese legal documents will be analysed, as will issues in the legal interpretation of such documents and professional presentation to Anglophone clients or employers.

Assessment

Written work totalling 5000 words.
