Prerequisites

A substantial secondary education in Chinese in a Chinese speaking environment. Students must be concurrently enrolled in Standard Chinese Phonetics A if not taken previously.

Subject Description

An advanced course in Chinese language and literature for students who are literate in Chinese. At the end of this course, students will be familiar with the development of Modern Chinese Literature (1918 - 1949) and of Classical Literature (Spring and Autumn to Sui) and the major works thereof.

Assessment

A 2-hour examination, and an essay of 1000 words, and homework totalling 1000 words.
