Prerequisites

Standard Chinese 3A and Standard Chinese Phonetics A if taken in first semester. Students must be concurrently enrolled in Standard Chinese Phonetics B if not taken previously. This requirement is waived for students who have passed Standard Chinese 1B and Spoken Standard Chinese 1B.

Subject Description

An advanced subject in Chinese language and literature for students who have passed Standard Chinese 3A. At the conclusion of this subject students. They will be able to read a variety of extracts from both classical and modern Chinese literature. They will be familiar with Chinese current affairs. They will have improved their ability to write Standard Chinese in a variety of styles.

Assessment

A 2-hour examination, and an essay of 1000 words, and homework totalling 1000 words.
