Prerequisites

Standard Chinese 2B and Standard Chinese Phonetics B if taken, or VCE Chinese plus knowledge of a Chinese dialect or the equivalent. Students must be concurrently enrolled in Standard Chinese Phonetics A if not taken previously. This requirement is waived for students who have passed Standard Chinese 1B and Spoken Standard Chinese 1B.

Four hours of language classes per week

Subject Description

An advanced subject in Chinese language and literature for students who are literate in Chinese. They will have some knowledge of both classical and modern Chinese literature, be familiar with Chinese current affairs and will be able to write Modern Standard Chinese in an acceptable style.

Assessment

A 2-hour examination, and an essay of 1000 words, and homework totalling 1000 words.
