Prerequisites

Some knowledge of a Chinese dialect. Students must be concurrently enrolled in Standard Spoken Chinese 1A.

Subject Description

An accelerated course for students who speak a dialect of Chinese but who cannot read or write Chinese characters or speak Mandarin. By the conclusion of this subject students should have reached approximately the same level as Chinese 1B. They should be able to speak with acceptable standard pronunciation, read and write at least 600 characters, and write essays.

Assessment

A 2-hour examination, and assignments and tests totalling 2000 words.
