Subject Description

The subject introduces the major forms of Greek religious activity, by a detailed examination of specific cult sites and ritual activity, supplemented a textual evider important theories of sacrifice, gift giving, religious personnel and temple economics are also topics in the seminars, as discussed by the great scholars of Greek religion (Cambridge School, French School, Burkert, Jamieson, Versnel).

Assessment

Two essays of 1500 words each, and a 1000-word take-home examination.
