Subject Description

This subject examines the political history, religion, society, main monuments and material culture of ancient Egypt from about 5,000 to 1,000 BC. It considers pyramids, sculpture, foreign relationships, warfare, literature and religion. Particular emphasis is placed on the New Kingdom period, with study of the temples, tombs and daily lifestyle both of royalty and the people.

Assessment

Written work totalling 2000 words, and a 2-hour examination.
