Subject Description

This subject involves the study of performance events across a wide range of institutional sites, which include theatre, film, carnival, television, sport, and dance. It provides an introduction to the emerging discipline of performance studies, and creates a framework for reading performances in terms of their impact on identity formations.

Assessment

Written work totalling 4000 words, consisting of an essay of 1000 words and an essay of 3000 words, or an essay of 4000 words, or audiovisual/multi-media equivalent, as negotiated with subject coordinator.
