Subject Description | The subject aims to consolidate the skills learned in Introductory Portuguese 2 P-2. The student will continue to acquire and perfect knowledge of the language through a range of activities involving language laboratory and computer aided exercises, and practical work in small groups and pairs, and through the study of Luso-Brazilian culture and society as represented in the media, in cinema, and in representative examples of Luso-Brazilian literature. Students who complete this subject should: be able to speak, write and understand Portuguese at an advanced intermediate level; and have some knowledge of informal registers and regional variants. |
Assessment | Written exercises; one 30-minute class paper; class participation; comprehension, production and transcription exercises; one 1500-word essay; one 2-hour examination. |
Prescribed Texts | A Reading Package of photocopied articles from the Department together with a reading list will be available at the beginning of the semester. |
