Four hours a week: one 1-hour seminar, one 1-hour grammar class and one 2-hour practical language class

Subject Description

A more advanced subject for students with proficiency in Spanish. Emphasis is placed on developing student's skills in distinguishing and handling various language registers in written, aural and oral speech; and more advanced aspects of grammar are studied. Hispanic culture and literature are examined and discussed primarily through audiovisual and written material. Two literary texts are studied in depth within their socio-historical context.

Assessment

Two 1000-word essays; written and oral participation (participation in all classes; written assignments; transcription exercises; one 20-minute oral presentation; class composition); one 1.5-hour written and aural test.
