Prerequisites

Spanish 1B-2 or some knowledge of Spanish without completion of VCE Spanish or an approved equivalent. Consultation with Departmental advisors prior to enrolment.

Four hours a week: one 1-hour lecture, one 1-hour tutorial and two 1-hour practical classes. One 2-day weekend immersion workshop

Subject Description

This subject is in many ways a continuation of Spanish 1B-2. While emphasising the acquisition of the skills of speaking and listening, it attends to the development of reading and writing skills. The student will be involved in a wide range of language acquisition activities and will be exposed to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture through the written language, radio, video and cinema.

Assessment

End of semester 2-hour written test; written exercises; oral/aural practical work (Aural comprehension & transcription exercises; reading performance & comprehension; oral production (class presentation & pronunciation exercises)).
