A 2-hour seminar and three hours of studio work a week

Subject Description

The development of skills in the use of electronic music equipment; development of critical awareness of sounds and how they may be combined, treated and sculpted in creative ways. Students will also acquire a knowledge of the historical development of the subject.

Topics covered include a study of the techniques of electro-acoustic music, including musique concrète, sound synthesis, sampling, digital processing and MIDI.

Assessment

A tape recording of work composed in accordance with the course of study (80%). The nature of the work will be determined and approved in the seminars; One class presentation (20%).
