Subject Description | Students will acquire basic skills in the use of computers in music notation and composition with MIDI and identify the major forces and influences in the recent developments in computer music. Topics covered include a critical study of the influences of technology on musical thinking and practice including the application of digital computers to solving musical problems; an introduction to music processing software using Finale and music sequencing software using Cubase. |
Assessment | 4 projects in notation and sequencing (60%); 1-hour written examination (40%). |
