Subject Description

Students are required to participate in staff-supervised Faculty ensembles as directed by the Dean. On completion of the subject, students should have developed the ability to perform sympathetically with other members of the group; be aware of the importance of individual preparation; become sensitive to the requirements of working in groups, large and small, particularly with regard to regular and punctual attendance; have an understanding of the range of repertory available for the ensemble group of which the student is a member. To attend concerts that inform, complement and develop the student's knowledge and appreciation of the ensemble they are participating in.

Assessment

  • 100% punctual attendance at all rehearsals and concerts (45%)
  • An individual or sectional part audition i.e. performance of the players part prior to concert(s). (45%)
  • Attendance at a minimum of ten concerts as prescribed and approved by the Dean. A Concert Attendance Report (forms are available from the Faculty office) of approximately 100 words, must be submitted for each concert to the ensemble director (10%). Note: A pass must be obtained in each section of the assessment.
