Subject Description

The nature and organisation of the legal profession. Admission to the profession. The moral foundations of legal ethics. The ethical responsibilities of the lawyer. The duties owed to the law, the court and the client. Conflicts of interest. Acting for a guilty client. Immunity from suit for negligence in court. Discipline. Trust Accounts. Access to justice. Contingency fees. The role of the judge.

Assessment

Final Exams in Professional Conduct 3 hours (100%) and Trust Accounts 2 hours (100%).
