Subject Description | An examination of the ways in which law is founded upon particular construction of sexuality and participates in constructing different sexualities. This will involve: considering various theories of sexuality; consideration of the interaction between sexuality, race, gender and class, particularly in relation to legal problems; consideration of the relationship between queer theory, lesbian and gay identity politics and feminist legal theory; analysis of a selection of past and present legal controversies concerning sexuality; and a consideration of the relationship between activism and the legal process. |
Assessment | Research Essay 5000 words (100%) or equivalent piece of work approved by the coordinators (100%). |
