Subject Description | The urban development process focusing on the interplay between private sector developers and public sector planners, especially for retailing. The theory, practice and techniques of local development planning: the USA, UK and Australia comparison. The nexus between urban economy and urban structure especially the distribution of retail centres. Innovative statutory and non-statutory mechanisms for plan and policy implementation, including economic development initiatives. Appropriate survey and analytical techniques are introduced. The physical form of shopping streets, shopping centres and stand alone retail outlets. |
Assessment | One two-hour examination and a planning project equivalent to no more than 4000 words. |
