Two lectures per week of two hours duration, tutorials and site visits

Subject Description

The practice of building rehabilitation, recycling, and its technical considerations. Methods of investigative techniques, repair and protection of concrete structures. The development, form and structural behaviour of spatial structures including space frames, membrane and cable supported structures with emphasis on buildability and construction aspects. The building facade, architectural, performance and construction detailing. The behaviour, construction and elementary design concepts of long span timber structures such as portal frames. Steel fibre reinforced concrete slabs technology. High strength sprayed concrete for structural elements. Construction of superflat concrete floor slabs. Note: Students may not be exposed to all of the content. The content for any particular year is taken form a larger list.

Assessment

One two-hour examination. Written and drawn assignments equivalent to not more than 5000 words.
