Subject Description | The purpose of this subject is to provide an understanding of the principles and techniques of optical design including an understanding of the control and optimisation of aberrations. It also covers advanced optical measurement. The topics covered include radiometry and colorimetry, aberration theory, optical design and control of aberrations including the design of ophthalmic lenses. |
Assessment | A two hour written examination at the end of the semester. Assessment of assignments and practical work (15%). |
Prescribed Texts | A reference list and reference materials will be provided. |
