Subject Description

This subject provides practical and research in a "work-experience" environment. Students will undertake 2 different practical/research projects (2 x 48 hours, each over a 6 week period). Students participate in a small groups with a member of staff actively investigating a specific physiological problem. Every endeavour is to offer students the areas of their choice. Topics offered vary from year to year and include renal physiology, cardiac physiology, brain function, vascular function, exercise, muscle physiology and vascular physiology.

Assessment

Assessment depends on the topic studied, but will usually include: report writing in manuscript format; laboratory performance; a review of the literature; and seminar preparation and presentation.
