Subject Description

The topics will include: legal and ethical issues in physiotherapy; pain management, intensive care practice, professional practice and promotion, physiotherapy in psychiatry, management of the burns patient, physiotherapy in oncology, hand injuries and hand therapy, amputee management, public health issues, government health policy, employment in physiotherapy. On completion of this subject, students should comprehend the principles of patient management in the clinical settings presented in the series; policies and processes of the health care system.

The students will appreciate the diversity and depth of physiotherapy practice and the interaction of health policy decisions with professional practice.

Assessment

Assignment (60%); Attendance (10%); Presentation 30%.
