 513-406 Neurological Physiotherapy 2

Subject Description

The course will address the impact of neurological disability on a client, and the complex biological, psychological and social issues involved in rehabilitation.

The theoretical framework for various treatment methods will be explored via self-learning guides with emphasis on the measurement of outcome, both qualitative and quantitative. Efficacy of treatments implemented will be evaluated.

Throughout the unit team participation and effective written and verbal communication will be encouraged.

The objectives of the course are to develop the student's understanding of neurological rehabilitation issues and to further increase their assessment and treatment skills. Following this unit the student will also appreciate all the issues, both physical and psychological that may impact upon the client with neurological dysfunction.

Assessment

Practical Continuous clinical assessment (50%); Clinical assignment (1500 words) (10%) and Theory 2 hour written exam (40%). Students must pass both clinical and theoretical components of the assessment in order to pass the subject.
