 510-302 Introduction to Clinical Medicine

A 1-hour seminar/demonstration and a 1-hour bedside tutorial a week for the first eight weeks

Subject Description

The objectives are to acquire (i) a basic familiarity with communicating with patients, and eliciting their symptoms and physical findings, and (ii) some understanding of the basis of symptoms and signs produced by diseases. This is an introductory course in the techniques of communication, history taking and physical examination, integrating the relevant aspects of pathology and clinical medicine.

Assessment

Continuous assessment. Attendance at all classes is compulsory. Students who receive unsatisfactory attendance/assessment reports may be considered for unsatisfactory progress at the end of the year and may be required to successfully complete additional work before being permitted to proceed to fourth year.
