Subject Description

An examination of the scope and nature of teaching and learning in the area of health and physical education. Emphasis on curriculum content, planning, methodologies and resources.

On completion of this subject students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the goals of primary school health and physical education and the relationship to the Curriculum Standards Framework; demonstrate personal competence in a range of related activities, and demonstrate knowledge of methods, materials, activities and safety factors in developing children's understandings in health and physical education.

Assessment

A 1000 word assignment; a 750 word literature review.
