Subject Description

A study of English learning and teaching in contemporary classrooms.

Students will be introduced to the development of language in each of the four modes: speaking, writing, reading and listening; assessment and evaluation; various approaches to the teaching of written language; classroom management and organisation specific to the teaching of English; reading theories and processes; approaches to the teaching of text to adolescents; the English teacher's role in the whole school; resources - print and non-print - for English teachers; teaching English in the mixed-ability classroom; and teaching VCE English.

Assessment

Essays and assignments equivalent to 4000 words. Students must pass each assessment task.
