It begins with the historical and philosophical contexts of schooling in Australia and the perceptions of the role of schooling in preparing students for participation in society. These early lectures and seminars lead into a critical examination of current and emerging role of teachers. Finally, the subject explores the situation of particular groups of students and their prospects at school and in society. |
Assessment | Students will be required to analyse current schooling provision from a range of perspectives, giving reasons for the relative weight placed on each perspective (4000 words). |
Prescribed Texts | A book of readings will be prepared and available to students at cost. Alternative sources will be cited. |
