36 hours plus a minimum of 4 hours per week for ten weeks in the approved workplace setting

Objectives

On completion of this subject students should be able to:

  • apply theories and styles of communication and learning in education and training activities;
  • understand and evaluate competency-based training and workplace processes;
  • prepare, deliver and evaluate quality education and training programs and materials;
  • organise and manage time and resources efficiently and effectively; and
  • reflect on their work to develop insights into the impact and outcomes of professional performance.

Content

A study of communication, styles of learning, the nature of curriculum, program design options and methodologies; competency based learning; program delivery and evaluation; selected case studies and critical incidents.

Assessment

One essay of 3750 words (50%) and one program development assignment of 3750 words (50%); each derived from the Workplace Learning Agreement.
